Steel Framing System (SFS) housing plot installation progress in Cornwall

Project information

This case study covers a plot of five Steel Framing System (SFS) houses in Cornwall. SLB Contracts were first engaged to build three houses to the issued scope, with an on-site approach focused on accurate setting out, clean openings and dependable coordination for follow-on trades.

The initial target programme was four weeks per house; delivery was completed in just under three weeks per house (client-supplied). Two months later, the client requested SLB return to build a further two five-bedroom houses. Following SFS completion, SLB also supported with perimeter insulation work (Celotex) and used a telehandler-led approach for access on this plot (client-supplied).

Delivery highlights

Key delivery behaviours on this Cornwall plot were kept trade-led and practical: clear scope, controlled set out and straightforward coordination to help the next trades follow on cleanly.

  • Accurate setting out and line control to keep structure positions and openings consistent.
  • Phase delivery: first three houses, then a return visit for two additional houses (client-supplied).
  • Telehandler-led access approach on this plot, supporting practical lifting and staging (client-supplied).
  • Clean interfaces for follow-on trades, helping sequencing stay straightforward on site.
  • Supported perimeter insulation work (Celotex) after SFS completion where needed (client-supplied).
